Brazilian Butt Lift

At Personique® in Austin, Brazilian Butt Lift is one of our most popular body-sculpting procedures. Our surgeons have many years of extensive experience with contouring the human figure with beautiful results. The Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) procedure is designed to create an attractive hourglass figure and enhance feminine curves. Butt augmentation is an effective way to improve the shape of the buttocks region. This is achieved by increasing the size, enhancing contour, correcting imbalances, and improving firmness. The result is a more youthful-looking backside and a slimmer waistline.

The Brazilian Butt Lift procedure uses your body fat to augment the size and shape of the butt. Candidates for this surgery include patients who are not proportionately shaped and those that have a small derriere with excess fat in other areas of the body.

The Brazilian Butt Lift is more about augmenting the backside and increasing volume. Whereas a Butt Lift procedure is more concerned with lifting a drooping buttock and does not necessarily involve augmentation. A Butt Lift (also referred to as gluteoplasty) is a more invasive procedure that involves removing excess skin and re-positioning surrounding tissue to create a more lifted posterior.

A traditional butt lift is typically performed when there is too much skin laxity, for instance, if the patient has lost a significant amount of weight. When there is a large amount of sagging skin and fat in the buttocks, then it is unlikely that this will be able to be filled with the fat from a Brazilian Butt Lift alone. Skin excision will likely be necessary to reset the tone and tautness of the skin and thus achieve better results.

Natural butt augmentation procedures use fat cells grafted from other body areas to relocate to the butt. For this reason, patients with little to no body fat do not make good candidates for this particular procedure. If you are a rare individual who does not have enough fat to transfer for a Brazilian Butt Lift, then the use of buttock implants may be a viable option. Implants can also be combined with fat transfer to achieve desired results.

Who are the Best Candidates for a Brazilian BUTT LIFT?

A good candidate for a Brazilian Butt Lift is any woman who isn’t satisfied with the appearance of her lower body. Many of our female patients seek out this treatment to augment the shape of the buttocks for different reasons, such as boosting their body confidence or even having their clothes fit better. Candidates for a Brazilian Butt Lift treatment in Austin will include those interested in:

  • Correcting the appearance of cellulite
  • Enhancing the size and shape of buttocks
  • Removing unwanted excess fat
  • Slimming down and smoothing out their shape

If you are considering this procedure, we strongly recommend our patients be at a stable weight, be in good health, keep realistic expectations, and have extra, unwanted fat elsewhere on their body that can be used for the injections.

The first step in getting your BBL in Austin is to contact our office and schedule a consultation with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. During this appointment, you will be able to discuss your aesthetic goals, ask any questions and address any concerns you may have with the procedure. You will also be asked to talk about your medical history to prevent any possible risks, so you must be clear and honest when discussing this with your surgeon. You will be given a full examination so your surgeon will know where to pull excess fat from and devise a custom surgical plan for you.

Once you and your doctor agree on the plan, our Patient Coordinator will schedule your surgery and provide you with some instructions to follow to get you ready for your procedure.

On the day of your Brazillian Butt Lift, you will begin by being administered the proper anesthesia. Once you are numb, your surgeon will use liposuction on the agreed-upon areas, leaving the treated locations left with a slimmer, more contoured, and toned appearance.

Next, the removed fat cells are rinsed and purified, which will help ready the cells to be safely re-inserted into your body. After this cleansing treatment, the fat cells are injected just under the skin of your buttocks. The fat cells will be carefully massaged so that they rest evenly but still give the area a lifted appearance. Once the desired shape and lift are achieved, the treated areas are wrapped with a bandage, followed by a compression garment.

Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery

Although you should be able to leave on your own accord after being discharged, we do recommend having a ride lined up to take you home. You will be asked to wear compression garments for the first few weeks to help minimize swelling. While you can remove them to shower and bathe, you should always reapply them after you’re dry.

You should not sit or lie directly on your buttocks for the first 2 weeks of recovery and always be mindful when putting any kind of pressure on the treated areas, including the areas that underwent liposuction. Also, when you are resting, you should try to sleep on your side or stomach using pillows to keep you from moving around too much.

As you return for your follow-up appointments, we will be able to assess your recovery and see how your fat grafts are adjusting to their new location. If the grafts are successful, we will give you instructions on how to ease back into a sitting position.

The cost of a Brazilian Butt Lift in Austin will vary on multiple factors but mostly will depend on your custom treatment plan. When you come in for your consultation, we will be able to provide you with a better idea and give you a pricing sheet for your procedure.

Is a Brazilian Butt Lift painful?

You will be administered anesthesia during your procedure, but most “pain” or discomfort will be experienced during the first few days of recovery. You will be swollen and bruised, which will subside within a week and any pain felt can be treated with some pain medication. The discomfort will come from the inability to or caution needed when having to sit down. You will be given tips after your surgery on how to remain the most comfortable during recovery with the best results.

How many appointments will I need?

After your surgery, you will need to return to our office a week after your surgery for a follow-up appointment. This is to monitor your recovery and see how your body is responding to the procedure. After that, you will be asked to return about 2 months later, and once again 6 months after your surgery. Pictures may be taken during one of these (if not all) appointments to be able to track your progress.

How long until I see results?

You should see some immediate changes from your surgery, but as your body absorbs and adapts to the fat injection, your buttocks will lose a little bit of the fat. Most patients can see their final results within 6 months of their procedure.

Can I combine a Brazilian Butt Lift with other procedures?

Many of our Brazilian Butt Lift patients in Austin will combine their surgery with a Tummy Tuck or Breast Augmentation to enhance their appearance. If you are looking to alter any other areas of your body, please discuss these goals with the doctor during your consultation. They will be able to examine your body and use their expertise to help you achieve your aesthetic goals.

What are the risks associated with a Brazilian Butt Lift?

All surgical procedures, including the Brazilian Butt Lift, have potential risks. While our plastic surgeons use their years of experience to minimize these risks, the following are associated with this particular procedure:

  • Asymmetrical (uneven) results
  • Blood clots
  • Bruising
  • Cardiac and pulmonary complications
  • Deep vein thrombosis
  • Excessive blood loss
  • Fat embolism (injected fat moves into the bloodstream and travels to the lungs)
  • Fat reabsorption
  • Infection
  • Seroma (build-up of clear fluid)
  • Stretch marks
  • Tissue death (necrosis)
  • Unfavorable Scarring

While some of these side effects are to be expected and will disappear over the weeks following your procedure, if you experience any severe or concerning reactions, please contact us immediately.

There are several different options for creating a shapelier derriere. The key to choosing the right procedure for you lies in the opinion of your plastic surgeon once he or she has examined you and determined the appropriate course of treatment. If you are considering butt augmentation in Austin, then contact Personique® to schedule an evaluation.
