Chin Augmentation is designed to alter or improve your chin’s appearance. WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY OF CHIN AUGMENTATION?

What to expect on the day of your Chin Augmentation will vary depending on what you’re having done. Regardless if you’re having a Reduction or Augmentation, you will begin your surgery by receiving anesthesia. Once under the anesthesia, your surgeon will begin by making a thin, small incision either inside the lower lip or below the chin.

When getting an augmentation, an insert will be placed in this newly formed pocket, with the size and type of insert being predetermined during your consultations.

If you are getting a Chin Reduction, any excess bone is removed and your chin will be contoured to the desired shape.

Once your surgeon is finished, sutures, adhesives, or tapes are used to close the incision.

CHIN AUGMENTATION RECOVERY

As with most surgical procedures, swelling and discomfort, along with some discoloration, is normal. A few weeks after your Austin chin augmentation procedure, all of these will subside and you may begin resuming your daily routine unless additional procedures have been done. Our surgeons and staff will guide you through the recovery process, instructing you on how to care for yourself, what to avoid, and any other important details about post-surgical care. Is Chin Augmentation painful?

Since you will be under anesthesia, the surgery itself will not hurt, however, you should expect some discomfort and soreness during the initial stages of recovery. Any pain should be minimal and can be alleviated with pain medication and ice packs.

How many appointments will I need?

You should expect to return to your surgeon about a week after your surgery so they can monitor your healing process and remove any sutures if need be. After your initial check-up appointment, you will be asked to return around 2 to 3 months later. After this appointment, it will be up to your doctor if you’ll need to return based on how you are recovering.

How long until I see results?

Your skin will require some time to adjust to the new contours of your chin, but you can expect to see some changes immediately following your procedure. Most patients will see their final results between 1 and 3 months depending on how their body heals and recovers from the procedure.

Can I combine Chin Augmentation with other procedures?
