Who are the Best Candidates for BREAST AUGMENTATION?
Breast augmentation is an ideal way to regain confidence, create a more proportionate figure, restore a look of youthful femininity and enhance overall appearance and self-image. Women choose to undergo breast augmentation for a wide variety of different reasons.
Underdeveloped Breasts – Many of our breast augmentation patients come to us ready for a change after facing years of poor body image and embarrassment due to underdeveloped breasts. While it may seem petty to some people, Micromastia (the medical term for the postpubertal underdevelopment of a woman’s breast tissue) can have significant personal, psychological, and social impacts on a woman. Many women view their breasts as an essential component of their femininity and sexuality. For a flat-chested female, her small breasts can be a source of nagging dissatisfaction and low self-esteem. Individuals who are not completely happy with the size and shape of their breasts can benefit significantly from breast augmentation surgery.
Uneven Breasts – Just about every woman has some degree of asymmetry when it comes to breast size or position. Up to 25% of women have breasts that display visibly perceptible asymmetry, wherein breasts differ in size by at least one cup size. Women with overly pronounced disparity often find their breast asymmetry to be a source of anxiety, causing them to feel uncomfortable in certain clothing or their intimate relationships. Breast augmentation can help balance the appearance of a woman’s bust. There are essentially two options for correcting asymmetrical breasts. The patient may opt to have breast reduction performed on the larger breast to match the smaller breast or choose to augment the smaller breast using a breast implant.
Sagging or Deflated Breasts – Women who experience a slight sagging of the breasts or who have lost fullness in the top portion of the breast can also benefit from breast augmentation. Women with moderate or significant sagging will likely benefit more from a breast lift; however, breast lift surgery alone will not enhance volume or fill out the upper part of the breast. This is why many of our patients undergo a breast lift and breast augmentation procedures at the same time to optimize their results.
